I have lived 100 lives and seen the world through many eyes.
I’ve won myself many hearts and lost a bit of my own in the process.
I’ve given too much in hopes of receiving but usually come up empty.
That will never change.
I’ve been lost only to be found, but found only to be lost.
I’ve pushed through pain and simply called it the beauty of being alive.
I’ve traveled down many roads to get to where I am now.
Who I am now.
There’s not a thing I would change nor a life I’d wish to not live.
It's simple to see the many phases of Macy when you look back through my instagram. My family and friends will tell you all about how I've graduated from phase to phase to phase. Some people will even say, "Oh I met Macy in her _______ phase." and others will say, "Oh yea that phase is why we never talked." For me, it's been interesting to see the progression of who I was and how I have become who I am. Middle school Macy was a self-proclaimed geek and nerd. High School Macy was an emo girl obsessed with punk rock and then a hippie child who wanted nothing but peace and love for the world. College Macy went from hippie to skater to artsy to beachy to who I am now, which there really is no category for. What I've realized throughout my life is that I have had the pleasure of seeing the world and the people who inhabit it through the many different lenses of the many different Macys. I have been able to grasp a better understanding of the people around me and different world views because I was once them.
If you know me now, this may seem a bit difficult to believe. As someone who's now staunchly conservative and a strong Christian, it may surprise you to know that I wasn't always like this. Actually, for a while I was the opposite. Would I change that? Hell no I wouldn't. It made me who I am and I am pretty proud of the woman I have become. I think I'm pretty cool!
I truly truly believe it is so important that when we look back at our lives and how we've changed, that we remain grateful for our journey and proud of who we are. Maybe you haven't lived through several different phases, but I can guarantee that you've had different life experiences that have gotten you to who and how you are now. And that should be celebrated!
