If you know me, you understand that I love poetry. It's the very reason that I decided to major in English. To me, poetry is vague enough that the meaning can be altered, but it's exact enough to allow the reader to feel heard and understood. Previously, I've opened up about having issues with my worth and the multiple ways of how I attempted to find that worth. One way I mentioned, was through guys and that feeling of being wanted. I've recently been inspired by that feeling, the one that you get at the beginning of a relationship. You know how it feels. Most people describe it as butterflies in your stomach, but to me, it feels like I'm on a roller coaster going uphill that is about to drop at any moment. It's exciting, thrilling, and even a bit scary. But, when it's over, you are left wondering if that was it, as you seek out your next thrill. It was this feeling that became my muse for this poem. I hope you all enjoy this little piece of my heart.

That Feeling.

That feeling, I know it all too well.

Imagine.

You're standing on the edge of a bouldered mountain.

The sun is rising between two rocky slopes,

and there you are,

small, yet so incredibly infinite.

Part of you wants to jump,

to feel free again,

to feel wild.

But, you remember what it feels like to fall.

You remember what it feels like to lose it all.

Then fear starts to creep its way into your mind.

Is this freefall all you're meant to find?

Can life truly hold no meaning

other than to leap to gain that feeling?
